Glass Options

The glass chosen for a door can enhance the custom look and feel of the entire room.

How to Choose

There are many varieties of glass available for use in lited doors, sidelites and speak EZ's.  The glass you choose, how much glass you include and the break up of that glass is all dependant on:

A few of our glass options are shown below to the right.  Please call or stop by our showroom for more options.

Best View and Light

For the best viewing and the most light pass through, stick with clear glass.

Clear glass is our most popular glass choice.

Obscured View

To allow light in but obscure the view choose one of the samples to the right or call for other options.

We have shown just a few of the possibilities here.

Children or Pets

If finger prints or pet prints are a concern, consider using a lower wood panel on the lited door to reduce the area of glass that is exposed to low angle prints.

A lock at 22" door often provides a good solution.  By including a low lock rail the glass height above the lock rail provides a large viewing and lighting area and allows little ones to see out.  Having a wood panel at the bottom of the door where the prints are most likely to occur reduces the amount of glass clean-up required due to prints.

Heavy use areas

For doors that will be heavily used or that have the potential for being used roughly consider going with a standard lock at 36" lited door.

These doors have the lock rail at the standard height of 36" with a solid wood panel below the lock rail for stability.  A glass lite is installed above the lock rail to allow for viewing and light passage.

Style and Decor

The amount and break-up of the glass you use depends not only on the inhabitants and use of the door but also on the style of the house itself.

Artic Glass

Provides a medium obsuring of view while still allowing plenty of light to pass through. Great for a busy front door.

Bamboo

Provides a focal point that tends to make one look at the glass rather than through it, but still allows for clear viewing. Perfect for a Pantry door.

Delta Frost

Provides heavy obsuring but still allows light to pass through. Ideal for an office or a heavy traffic entry.

Glue Chip

Provides a solid obsuring of the view through the glass but does allow light to pass through. Great for an office door.

Leaves

Medium obsuring provided, little light defusing. Works well in a den, pantry, or bedroom door.

Pin Read

Slight distrotion in the view, good light pass through. A good choice for an entry sidelite allowing you to see who's at the door but slightly obscuring the view in.

Rain

Provides Medium/Heavy obsuring. One of our most popular entry glasses.

Seedy Reamy

Slight opscuring of view, good pass through of light. This glass shows bubbles and "sliding" of the glass giving an aire of "old world" to the door.
