The Monterey Series displays lited doors (doors with glass
panels). Glass can be substituted for almost any panel in any door style
to create a lited door. See below to find out more about
glass options, lited door considerations and
ideas on where to use a lited door.

| Brighten up a room Lited doors are a great way to increase
light flow and the feeling of openness between rooms, while still
allowing for a level of privacy when needed. |
Glass options
A variety of glass textures, patterns and tints are available ranging
from clear to obscured. You can even have mirrored glass added to
your door. Please see the Glass Options page to view
our glass samples.
If you can't find what you're looking for in our standard glass
samples it is possible to special order custom stained or etched glass
to meet your needs. If you have a specific artist in your area
that you prefer to deal with, we can ship the door open, with no glass, and
your dealer or contractor can install it on site. |
Where do people use lited doors
The following list shows a few popular uses for lited
doors. It's all a matter of personal taste, your options are
limitless.
|
Considerations when selecting a lited door
Things to keep in mind when choosing a lited door
include:
-
What will be behind the door - will it be a room
that you want visitors to see in? If not, you might want to
use obscured glass to reduce or prevent visibility while still
allowing light to flow into the room.
-
Are there pets that might jump up on the door?
If so, consider adding a small panel to the bottom of the lited door
to add support and reduce stress on the glass due to your pet's
paws. An example of this is a lited door with a lock at 22".
-
Will children's finger prints and/or pet nose prints
be an issue? If so, consider a door with glass in the top
portion, a lock rail @ 36" and a full panel on the bottom.
This will greatly reduce the number of nose/paw and finger prints
that find their way to your door.
See the samples earlier on this page for examples of
lited doors with lock rails at 22" and 36".
