The Tahoe series consists of plank panel and true plank doors (see Plank vs True Plank below).  This series lends itself well to a variety of home styles and finishes, including wire brush texturing.  Add on's such as Speak EZ's, Grills, Clavos' and other metal work add a finishing touch to Tahoe series doors (see Tahoe Options below).

Plank vs True Plank

The Tahoe door series consists of Plank Panel doors and True Plank doors. 

The Plank Panel doors are made with stiles and rails with a plank raised panel in between.  Stiles and rails give the door added stability and protect against warping or bowing.  The panels are floating between the stiles and rails to allow for movement (shrinkage and expansion) in the panel.

The True Plank doors do not have stiles or rails, only planks with cross bucks.  The cross bucks add to the appearance of the door as well as providing a degree of stability.  Because true plank doors do not have stiles and rails, Crafted Northwest Doors cannot warrantee them against warping.  While there is a degree of risk involved with purchasing True plank doors, interior doors protected from moisture rarely have issues with warping.  If a true plank style is required for and exterior door it is possible to create a true plank overlay door which can be warranteed.  The overlay door has a stabilizing frame with true plank overlays attached to one or both sides.  This prevents an exterior true plank door from warping with weather changes but does require that the door thickness be at least 2-1/4".

Tahoe Options

Tahoe doors lend themselves well to options such as Clavos' and Speak EZ's. 

Clavos' are often placed across the center lock rail, on the top and bottom ends of each plank, in each corner of the door or along the top and bottom rails.  Clavos' come in several shapes and finishes to match various decors. 

Speak EZ's are often placed in the center top of the door but may be offset for a custom look.  Speak EZ's can include a glass only opening, a operating door opening or a combination of the two.  The Speak EZ opening itself can be either a standard square top or a radiused top.  The opening may be covered with a metal grill if desired.
